Sending Petals Project

sendingpetals.com was started in March 2010, with the goal of sending one letter of appreciation each week. Since then we’ve written dozens of letters; to the best businesses, terrific teachers, great groups, sweet strangers, brilliant bands, fabulous friends, and inspiring individuals. In September 2010 we decided to start a new aspect of sending petals. We’re leaving the blogosphere behind, and venturing to a place where we know we’ll meet a lot more cool people: schools. We’re calling it The Sending Petals Project.

The goal of The Sending Petals Project is to have 365 letters of appreciation sent in one year. We can’t do it alone, and that’s why we’re putting on workshops in schools. We offer a workshop that ties in the letter writing components of the curriculum with an awesome art project and our philosophy of showing appreciation and saying “thanks”, and we have a pretty good time during the whole thing to!Each student will get to write a letter, which will count towards our goal of 365, and see their letter posted online. They’ll be able to stay up to date on our project, and track our progress online with our “flower counter”.

I’d love to come and work with some of the young writers and artists at your school. If you’re interested, please email sendingpetals@gmail.com. For more detail just check out this example of a Sending Petals kit, where you’ll find a biography, a breakdown of the workshop, and a checklist!
